About Us

RolePieces is a brand new company, family owned and operated.  I came home from my sophomore year of college and decided I wanted to do something exciting, something that would be fun and related to one of my favorite hobbies, role playing games.  I have been playing tabletop role playing games for almost two years now, and the group I play with doesn't have any fancy pieces or maps.  I decided I wanted to get something that would make our games more interesting than using buttons and erasers for pieces.  I did some searching, but I couldn't find something that was both affordable and high-quality (not paper).  Since I didn't find anything that fit what I was looking for, I thought "Why don't I just make them myself?"  I couldn't be the only one out there who can't find good player pieces to use.

Not having the tools at home I looked to an outside resource that could provide the means to create these pieces.  My family recently joined the TechShop Pittsburgh and their facility seemed like a great environment in which to design and produce the unique game pieces and accessories I had in mind.

That is how the company started, but that's only the beginning of the story.  We plan on continuing to provide an affordable alternative to miniatures and tokens, while expanding to other tabletop accessories.  We want to enhance the environment that these RPG's are played in to help everyone achieve the experience they are hoping for.
